This picture was taken in 1907, a year after the family moved in, one week before Christmas 1906. Walter Peterson, about 9 years old, and Clarence about 5, are here with their bicycles. During that first year, upon moving in, a huge rain came and water stood 1 foot deep all around the house on New Years Day. Neighbors milked cows in water so deep it could hardly be kept out of the buckets. The family temporarily moved out New Years Day, staying with a friend until the water subsided.
